Today Was A Good Day

Today was a good day.

Not because the dishes in the kitchen sink got cleaned, dried & put away.

And not because the laundry pile in our bedroom dissolved.

And not because toys were out of sight and floors were vacuumed.

But because these aforementioned tasks did not get completed.

Today was a good day because I got to wake Finn up from his morning nap and get him all ready to go swimming.
It was a good day because I got to hear Finn shriek with anticipation when he finally saw the pool.
I got to hold Finn on my chest and zoom him through the water.
I got to watch the intentness in his eyes while he slapped the poolside tiles with his chubby open hands.
I got to witness his admiration for lifeguards (must be something about their red shorts and super high high chairs).
I got to listen to him "lordydoodledoo" (his most impressive language) the whole car ride home.
Today was a good day because I got to mother my son.

  1. I love this post!! Probably one of my most favorites ever, because it's so real and sweet. I can't wait to be a momma, and hope to be 1/2 as good of one as you. And to make a baby as stinkin' adorable as Finn! :)
