Using Words on Walls

A while back, I created a print with the verse "Eat, friends, drink, and be drunk with love" from Song of Solomon 5:1. Click here if you're interested in using this print in your home (just be forewarned that there is a slight grammatical error, and someone just might convict you of promoting cannibalism).
I decided to give those words new life by changing up the way I displayed them in our dining room and here's the end result!
Originally I had this print displayed with its earth tones before the color invasion happened.
I suppose I left out a very important comma because that font style didn't have one available, whoops! It's great when it takes something like Pinterest publicity to realize the mistake you made...
Onto the project!
First, I inserted scrapbook paper into each frame that I'd picked from my random stash and laid them on the floor in the design I had pictured for the wall.

Then I took the frames out back and spray painted each of them white.

Next, I hung them up, trying to keep the design intact without using any guidelines.
After I got them hung up, they stayed wordless for a few months until I had a chance to get the Silhouette SD out. I used the font hoedown found on dafont.com (my favorite!).

Here's a look at what used to take up that little bit of wall space:
I love this idea! Breaking up a short quote or verse onto different objects for display is a cheap and easy way to decorate a wall of any size. Take advantage of the free print I mentioned earlier, or start your own project using this same verse, perfect for a dining room! Just remember, don't eat your friends.

Farmhouse Prints

Katie Daisy is my favorite artist on Etsy, and I would buy just about everything in her shop The Wheatfield.
I ordered a print in the past and  last night I ordered two more from her. I can't wait to get them and hang them up in our dining room!

I love the sense of warmth and feelings of home her prints capture. I need more bright and cheery in my house!

Cheap Changes to Picture Frames

I received these two fantastic prints from the Etsy shop Chasing the Crayon and finally got my hands on some cheap frames for them. Michael's had these guys on sale for $4.99, I could not pass them up! The frames came in a variety of colors, but none of them fit the shabby/rustic look I was going for.
I decided on two plain black frames.
They were too contemporary and clean for my taste, but I thought I could change that with a little bit of ivory paint and a paintbrush. I just barely dipped the brush into some paint and dabbed it on a rag until it was super dry. Then I very lightly painted the frame.
And here they both are with these super cute prints, looking more rustic.

And for another next to nothing change for a picture frame, try using spray paint and Distress Ink like I did with this one.
It used to be a teal and gold color(sorry I didn't take pictures during). Distress Ink can be found at Michael's or any other craft store on the scrapbooking aisle. The color I used here is called Walnut Stain. I love using it! Sometimes it's nice to sand whatever you're distressing first, but with this frame, I just rubbed the ink pad against the frame and it picked up the ink in natural looking places.

Sometimes you just need some color...I had two cherry stained picture frames that I had tried to paint white, but the paint wouldn't stick to the frames' finish, so I gave up, thinking I wouldn't be able to use them. But, spray paint did not let me down this time!
The frame on the right is what both looked like, you can see where I stopped trying to get the white paint to stick.
First, I primed the frame to make sure the Avocado color would stay. Did you know Valspar has tons of their paint colors available in spray paint? I didn't until a few days ago!
Then it was just about two coats of paint and 20 minutes and I had a brand new piece of decor for the nursery!
Download this alphabet print for your own project here.
Never pass up a good deal on picture frames...anything can be done with a little paint and dry brush, or some spray paint and distress ink! Also, a great places for cheap frames are thrift stores...I don't think I've ever been to a thrift store without seeing a shelf full of different frames.
My husband left for a wedding in Memphis today, so after a late night of some seriously annoying heartburn, I slept in, and now am contemplating my day. Maybe I'll check out this enormously huge antique store in Elizabethton for a new bathroom mirror?
Happy Friday everyone!

Free Alphabet Print

I have so much fun creating text prints for decoration! I completed another one that I want to share with you...I used Zierinitialen2 font from dafont.

Remember, just righ click, save, and print!
I pulled colors from the quilt and other items that will fill the nursery. My idea for this print is to cover a frame in pieces of broken twigs.
Alphabet prints are so popular right now for nurseries and children's rooms. The best part is that they are so simple and you can create your own for free using any font style and colors you want!
If you download this print, let me know where you'll use it! And be sure, if you haven't already, to check out my other free prints here and here!
Hope you're having a great week!

A Long Break & Another Free Print

It has been so long I've even forgotten what font I use for my posts! The past (almost) two months have been crammed with life's realities and I have neglected my joy in sharing with the blog world!
Earlier this week I created two new prints (Nothin' fancy ya'll, just Publisher) for the nursery.

Just right click, save & print!

The text for these prints came from this book that I've already ordered for Blackburniño (our son in utero) by Sally-Lloyd Jones. I love how she illustrates the Gospel in a simple and beautiful way that is total truth yet easy to understand.
I used two gray/black wooden frames that I already had and slipped these guys on top of an old butterfly print duo. I plan on hanging them next to each other above the crib. Pictures to come!
Update on the quilt attempt coming soon! Oh and did I mention we're doing a bathroom remodel? Finally bought tile for it this past weekend...the end is in sight!

Another previous free print can be found here. Enjoy!

Free Downloadable Print

After my great friend Allie had given me multiple compliments on this print, and after seeing Kim at Yellow Songbird post prints she'd created for a free download and then after I got over my negative feelings of thinking no one would benefit from me posting my print download I finally did it!
I hope the resolution works for you all...it wasn't made on any fancy program, but it worked well enough for me!
Right click, save & print!
This text was taken from Song of Solomon 5:1, which is right smack dab in the center of the book, kind of like a turning point. Steven and I read it on our honeymoon and we said "that is going in the dining room!"
I hope you all like the print and can use it for something!
